The Federal Government has announced a comprehensive review into the family law system. This review is the first since the commencement of the Family Law Act in 1976, with the government stating it will pave the way for long term fundamental reform to better meet the needs of modern Australian families. The Government also announced a funding boost to family law and family violence services.
This additional investment includes establish Parenting Management Hearings, additional family consultants to deal with family law cases, additional domestic violence units, and a boost to Community Legal Centres and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Legal Services (announced earlier in the year).
